Motive Power® FAQ
Finalize Why can't I make
changes to a work order after I finalize it?
Once you finalize a ticket it
cannot be changed. This is for two reasons. First it allows the image of
the paid invoice to be a legal archive in case of a consumer complaint or
an audit. Second, we presume that when you finalize a work order, the
customer has a copy of that work order (remember that you have to pay it
in full to finalize it) and you can't have any differences between the
customer's copy and yours. Finalize means just what it says, this is the
final version. Don't finalize tickets until the customer understands what
is on it and agrees to pay you for it. If you have to make a correction
later on make another ticket. For example, you find that you charged the
wrong price for an item last Friday and the customer paid you too much. On
Wednesday you make a new ticket with a correction and give them back some
money. The ticket finalized on Friday is really what happened on Friday.
The ticket with the correction that you made on Wednesday really happened
on Wednesday.
